Common questions

Response Times and Booking

Got a drain playing up right now? Start here.

Do you work weekends and public holidays?

Yes. We work weekends, public holidays and everything in between. Drains don't wait for a weekday, so our roster doesn't either.

What counts as a drain emergency?

Sewage backing up inside the house, water pooling around the gully trap, or a toilet that won't stop overflowing are all emergencies. A slow-draining sink that's been sluggish for a week can usually wait for a booked slot. Call us either way and we'll tell you straight.

Are you really open 24/7?

Yes. Around the clock, weekends and public holidays included, and never an automated line. A licensed plumber picks up the call, day or night.

How fast can you get here?

We guarantee a licensed plumber on-site in 30 minutes. That's the promise whether it's the middle of the day or the middle of the night.

Common questions

What It Costs to Get It Flowing

Money questions, answered plainly.

Do prices change once you start?

No. We give you a fixed price before any work starts, and that's the number on the invoice. No surprise add-ons once the van's in the driveway.

How does the 10% seniors discount work?

Show us you're a senior and 10% comes off the job. No card, no means test, no fine print. It stacks with the $50 off when you book online, so you're not choosing between the two.

Do you charge a call-out fee?

No. $0 call-out fee, every time, whether the job goes ahead or not. You get a free quote either way.

What does "$50 off when you book online" cover?

Make your booking on the site rather than by phone and $50 is knocked off the invoice. It's on top of your fixed price, not swapped in for it.

Common questions

Local to Menai

Questions we get a lot from people whose drains sit on this side of the Shire.

Do you know Menai's pipe stock?

The bulk of the housing stock here dates to the 1980s estate development, so we know the fittings and pipe runs that come with homes of that age. Original developer-grade fittings from that build-out are now old enough to be a common source of blockages.

Why do Menai's older drains keep blocking?

Two things stack up together here: age and slope. The original pipework and fittings from the 1980s estate build-out are reaching the point where they're due for attention, and blocks falling toward the bushland gullies mean drains run long downhill stretches where build-up settles.

Do tree roots really get into pipes here?

Very much so. The suburb was cut from bushland and still carries heavy eucalypt and angophora cover. Those roots go looking for moisture through cracked joints and ageing pipe. It's one of the most common callouts we get in this part of the Shire.

What suburbs do you service?

Menai, plus Bangor, Illawong, Jannali, Sutherland and Kirrawee. If you're anywhere in that stretch, the same guarantees and pricing promise apply.

Common questions

Licensed, Insured and Done Properly

The legal and technical stuff, kept simple.

Can I clear a blocked drain myself?

A plunger or a simple drain snake can sometimes shift a surface blockage. Don't reach for harsh chemical cleaners though. They rarely fix the actual problem and can damage older pipework. A blockage that keeps coming back usually points to something further down the line that needs a proper look.

Do wipes really block drains?

Yes, and the flushable label doesn't change that. Wipes stay intact once they're in the pipe, snagging on whatever's already there until it grows into a hard blockage. The bin is the right place for them, not the toilet.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. We hold NSW plumbing licence #275278C, carry $20 million public liability insurance, and every plumber on the tools is Master Plumber accredited.

What is an overflow relief gully and why does it matter?

It's the dome-topped fitting near your house, usually low to the ground, designed to overflow outside before sewage backs up inside. If yours is overflowing, that's a sign of a blockage further down the line. It needs attention, not just a hose-down.
